The Minnesota Vikings have welcomed Adrian Peterson back with open arms and are doing their best to support him on social media.

The team's Twitter account recently posted a Peterson rush from practice in which he runs over linebacker Gerald Hodges. However, Peterson wasn't "live" during that practice run, meaning that Hodges and other defenders were not allowed to hit him. The linebacker took offense to the social media staff's exclusion of that information, but his Twitter plea fell on deaf ears.

"I did not technically run him over. It could have been worse than that actually," Peterson said via Vikings.com.

"When I came through the hole, I saw him spin, so I wanted to give him more of a shove instead of lowering my shoulder...He's been calling me out in one-on-ones, trying to get that lick back."

Peterson pleaded no contest in November to a count of misdemeanor reckless assault to a child. He missed all but one game last season after being placed on the NFL's exempt list and then later being suspended. He expressed significant reservations about returning to the Vikings once he was reinstituted by the NFL, siting the organization's lack of support during his ordeal. However, the two sides have since reconciled and Peterson is expected to lead Minnesota's backfield once again.
