Popular card game "Exploding Kittens" has finally become available internationally five months after the end of its Kickstarter campaign.

The campaign launched on Jan. 20, 2015 for a game designed "for people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats."

It was simple and fine in the beginning for an old-fashioned card game (note: not an app) targeted towards players ages 7 and up. However, it surpassed its funding goal within minutes and proceeded to become the most supported project in the crowdfunding website ever with a staggering $8,782,571 in total pledges from 219,382 backers. The game has finally begun shipping a massive number of card decks to its supporters, the team behind the game announced on Friday.

The sheer number of pledges and customers proved to be both a challenge and a blessing to the team. The millions of funds generated means that "Exploding Kittens" is now a legitimate international business. However, it also entailed satisfying manic demand, CNN noted.

Elan Lee, co-creator of the game, said that the team was astounded with the level of enthusiasm from fans. "We had to increase our initial order of 500 cards to 700,000, which comes with a whole bunch of international logistics to consider," Lee said in a CNN interview.

The project currently requires printing of more than 26 million cards that weigh about 53 tons to be shipped on "17 train-car-sized containers," according to The Washington Post

The artworks and characters follow the style of Matthew Inman, co-creator of the game and the person behind the comic "The Oatmeal." Fans should, therefore, expect a combination of humor and cartoon violence in their deck.
