Joe McMahon, a former associate producer on the popular Discovery Channel reality series "The Deadliest Catch," was shot and killed near his home in Pasadena, Calif. home on Friday, E! News reported. He was 24 years old. The Temple Station received a call regarding shots fired at 2:19 a.m., according to local paper Pasadena Star News. McMahon was found lying on the street on Yorkshire Road with multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene, Deputy Sara Rodriguez said.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Joseph Myles McMahon, Ed Winter, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, said. McMahon worked on "The Deadliest Catch," a reality series about Alaskan fishermen, as an associate producer in 2013 for eight episodes. The show is the only credit listed on McMahon's IMDB page.

Maddie, the woman who identified herself as McMahon's sister, said he went outside on Friday and then she heard between seven and eight gunshots.

"I don't know what happened," she told Pasadena Star News. "I want to know what happened."

Detectives don't know why McMahon was gunned down, Lt. Holly Francisco told the Los Angeles Times. He had no previous history of drug use or any involvement with gangs.

A 24-year-old man who was suspected of killing McMahon was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at around 4 p.m. on Friday, according to the L.A. Times. Officials would not identify the suspect.

A representative for the Discovery Channel issued a statement to E! News following McMahon's death.

"We are heartsick about this tragedy," the rep told E! News. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to all that knew and worked with him."
