Entertainment Arts launched Thursday, the latest social version of Maxis' city-building simulation, SimCity, for Mac OS. However, much to their disappointment, users have not been able to install it.

The SimCity PC launch was not all Hunky Dory. Its recent Mac launch met with a similar fate. Just as the Windows users were getting over the disastrous SimCity PC launch, which resulted in server crashes not allowing gamers to play the online game, Mac users are unable to even install it on their PCs.

Entertainment Arts (EA) announced earlier this month that the company would launch the Mac version of its popular SimCity Aug. 29. Just as promised, the launch went ahead to give Mac users the ultimate gaming experience. While some users have successfully been able to install and play the game, many have complained about issues in installing it. Repeated attempts at installation have failed.

"There are a small number of players who have encountered issues with SimCity for Mac," Maxis' spokesperson told The Escapist in response to the situation. "Our live team is working individually with our players to resolve their issues and get them into the game as quickly as possible."

The company had postponed the launch of the game for Mac users in June saying the game wasn't ready for "primetime." After experiencing a troublesome start with its PC launch, EA said it fixed several bugs, tuned engine simulation and addressed server problems. Despite these efforts, many Mac users have complained about the game being unplayable.

Users who already own the Windows PC version of the game, need not purchase another license for Mac as it can be downloaded via Origin's Mac client at no extra cost.

EA has addressed the Mac users' problems and asked them to follow some troubleshooting steps to get the game functional.
