Turns out Steven Spielberg's 1993 adventure film wasn't just a hit in the United States.

Following the re-release of Jurassic Park in 3D, sales have soared through the roof-in China.

The film blew other movies out of the water, with global sales at the box office of around $89.9 million.

$28.8 million of those ticket sales were made in China.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Universal film gained such massive attention in the Asian country because Chinese viewers have a particular interest and an avid fondness for 3D movies.

In 2012, the re-release of Titanic 3D gained the film company around $150 million from Chinese sales alone.

Universal also won big this past weekend-not only because Jurassic Park 3D brought them a cool $30 million from Saturday and Sunday alone, but also because hit movie Despicable Me 2 made $800 million from ticket sales worldwide.

That puts the animated film at the top of the list of gross film sales for 2013, and is the second most successful movie in Universal history, the Hollywood Reporter stated.

The original version of Jurassic Park was the number one highest earning film for the company, clocking in at $921.6 million.
