In Season 2 of “Revolution” we finally get to meet Rachel’s (Elizabeth Mitchell) dad—and it makes a whole lot of sense that he is portrayed by one of the most famous dad’s in all of TV history.

Stephen Collins will play the role of Rachel’s father Gene—and, as Executive Producer Eric Kripke tells TVLine, Gene isn’t exactly the nice, family guy we saw in “7th Heaven.”

Kripke warns that “this role is unlike anything Stephen’s ever done before.

“He’s gruff and pissed off and tough. It’s really fascinating to see Stephen playing this part, all whiskered and haggard. I think people are going to be blown away by the work he’s doing.”

We get a glimpse of Collins “gruff and pissed off and tough” nature in the “Revolution” Comic-Con trailer, where Gene pretty much tells Miles to back off his daughter and calls him, “the wrong guy.”

Oh and he looks pretty scruffy and tough doing it. (Of course that could have more to do with the fact there has been no power for quite a while.)

Although Gene may not like Miles (Billy Burke), they might be forced to team-up—especially since it looks like everyone (no matter what team you were on last season) could be joining forces.

“The idea is to create a villain this year that’s so bad and so insidious that even our heroes and villains have to band together to face this threat,” Kripke said during his show’s Comic-Con Panel.

Season 2 of Revolution will premiere Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
