After a year of rocking her infamous blonde pixie cut, Miley Cyrus is ready to bid farewell to her short hair, E! News reports, and her hairstylist Chris McMillan has the scoop on what's next for the "We Can't Stop" singer's 'do.

"We're growing it out," McMillan told E! News. "Up and over is the new direction. We're keeping it short on the sides and back until the top gets longer. Very Madonna first album cover."

Cyrus's ultra short hair was definitely a bold move, though the 20-year old star with an ever-evolving image is now ready for a change.

''I'm secretly tugging on it every night and taking [hair growth vitamin supplement] Viviscal, I'm not going to lie. But I'm going to rock it while I have it," Cyrus told Fashion Police's Kelly Osbourne in a recent interview.

Although the status of Cyrus's relationship with Liam Hemsworth remains up in the air, as the two are rarely spotted out together and rumor has it they may be calling it quits soon, some speculate that Cyrus's decision to return to long hair was partially inspired by her fiancé's beauty preferences.

"Liam likes long hair," a source told Hollywood Life. "He thinks Miley's beautiful no matter what and he's not going around telling her how to wear her hair but she has said that he likes her longer hair better. "Cutting all her hair off was a way for her to show her style and independence and it got her a lot of attention, but she's focusing on her relationship with Liam again. Growing her hair out is a big sign that things are back on track for them."

But are things really back on track? When the couple are photographed together, fans note how stiff and awkward they look, and Cyrus has been seen not wearing her engagement ring in plenty of photos, though Cyrus maintains that everything is fine between her and her hunky beau. Whether or not she's growing her hair out for her man or not, we have to wonder if she'll miss the look that ultimately changed her life.

"No one would have planned a haircut to change my life," Cyrus said in a recent interview with the Huffington Post. "I didn't plan a haircut to change my life ...There's something about having no hair that it screams being confident. And I think especially because people like to put people in a box, I mean the names I've been called since I cut my hair."

New hair will certainly be appropriate for a new album release, as Cyrus's latest "Bangerz" is set to be released Oct. 8.
