David Sweat, one of two inmates who escaped from a maximum security prison in New York and evaded capture for more than three weeks, has been transferred from a hospital to a prison following his capture and arrest near the Canadian border.

Sweat is currently incarcerated in another maximum security prison, Five Point Correctional Facility in Romulus, N.Y., after being moved from a hospital following his arrest. The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision stated that Sweat was released from the hospital at around 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning, according to Reuters.

The DOCCS however, did not elaborate how Sweat was transported from the hospital to the prison, citing concerns about security.

Sweat is to remain in the prison's infirmary for 24 hours to be evaluated. He will also be placed on active suicide watch. Following this, he will be housed in a single cell within the facility's 15-bed, 23-hour confinement unit. Sweat's cell is equipped with a bed, a writing platform, a toilet and sink, as well as a facility-controlled shower, reports CNN.

The Five Points Facility opened in 2000, and features a much newer and more efficient security system than Clinton Correctional Facility, where Sweat and his partner, Richard Matt, escaped from early June.

Matt was killed while resisting capture by a U.S. Border Patrol tactical agent on June 26, after refusing to obey verbal commands to put his hands up. Sweat was captured after being shot two days after Matt's death.
