A signing at a Barnes and Noble store in Costa Mesa, Calif. for Ann Coulter's new book went awry when dozens of protesters marched in and disrupted the event.

The controversial commentator and conservative was in town to promote her new book "¡Adios, America!: The Left's Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole" and signed copies for fans when activists stormed in with their banners and waving the Mexican flag.

In her new book, the author talks about how undocumented immigrants are the ones that have been destroying America, a claim that caught the ire of immigrants across the country, according to The Spreadit.

About 20 security guards were in the premises. They were there to protect Coulter as well as trying to lead the protesters out of the store until the police were called.

The protest then moved outside the store, where they continued chanting phrases such as "two, four, six, eight, we don't need your words of hate" towards the author, ripping pages off the book and even shaming fans of the author after their books were signed, Star Pulse reported.

One of the protesters was a woman named Sharon Tipton, who arrived at the signing 40 minutes early.

Tipton brought a sign with a drawing of Andrew Jackson and a Native American woman and it read "Learn the truth of the indigenous struggle! Make it your truth, your struggle!"

"There's been a lot of anti-Latino, racist remarks coming from her (Coulter). She shows some major problems in our society," said Tipton.

Lutz Venzlaff, a man from Switzerland who is a fan of Coulter, did not mind the protest.

"This is a good thing about America. People can say whatever they want. When I lived in East Germany, we couldn't do this," he said, according to Orange County Register.
