The daughter of late actor Christopher Reeve honored her father by naming her newborn son after him. Christopher Russel Reeve Givens was born to Alexandra Reeve Givens and her husband, Garren Givens, June 13 in Washington, D.C., according to People.

“He was named after his grandfathers on each side, two very important role models for Garren and Alexandra,” said a Reeve family rep. “The entire family is thriving during their first few weeks home.”

Little Christopher—who weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces at birth—is already sporting “Team Reeve” merchandise, reported People, in support of his grandparents' charity, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which is “dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.”

The Reeve Foundation sent out the following tweet earlier today:

Grandpa Christopher was a well-known actor, director and activist who became paralyzed in 1995 during an equestrian competition. While he appeared on both stage and screen, he is most known for playing the Man of Steel in 1978’s “Superman” and its three sequels. He died Oct. 10, 2004, of heart failure at 52 years old.

Alexandra, Reeve’s 31-year-old daughter with Gae Exton, works as a Senior Counsel in the Senate and is an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Columbia Law School, according to People. Papa Givens, 33, works in the Obama administration as the Director of the Presidential Innovation Fellows program. The couple met while attending Yale, and wed in 2008. This is their first child together.
