HNGN takes a look back at Farrah Fawcett's famous poster for its Throwback Thursday selection for July 2.

Photographer Bruce McBroom is the man behind the actress' instant fame and popularity among fans in 1976, according to TIME.com. Fawcett died from anal cancer on June 25, 2009, IMDb.com reported.

It all started when a man from Cleveland called McBroom at the request of the woman herself for the photoshoot.

"Farrah insisted I call you," the gentleman reportedly said. "I've hired two photographers, had two photo shoots, spent all this money, and she hates the pictures. She said, 'Call Bruce McBroom."

Fawcett was the only girl from the 1976 TV series "Charlie's Angel" who accepted the anonymous man's offer to pose for photos in a bikini but was not pleased with his work, especially since only a portion of the money made went back to each participant.
