Since Tuesday, rumors have been flying around that the crowning glory of late 90s-early 2000's boy bands, N'Sync, will give a reunion performance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

But on his SiriusXM show "Dirty Pop with Lance Bass," the former pop group member said that it might not happen.

"This morning I woke up to a lot of rumors flying [around] that the N'Sync reunion is happening after eleven years at the VMAs this Sunday," he said Tuesday evening. "Well, let me tell you how this all came about. Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson [Video] Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we're going to be there performing."

He also mentioned that a photo he posted on Instagram of him with fellow former members Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick watching Timberlake perform at the Sun Life Stadium last week might have also added fuel to the fire.

"I knew these rumors were going to fly," he said.

But Bass didn't explicitly say that it wasn't  going down for sure. According to a source at MTV who spoke to US Weekly, producers of the show are "trying to make it happen" while plans "come together."

Meanwhile, Page Six reporters over at the New York Post stoked social media frenzy when they reported that Justin Timberlake would be joined by his former band mates at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

We might not know whether the five pop legends will rejoin onstage until Sunday, but Bass still showed his gratitude for fans amid the buzz of rumors.

"It's amazing to see the reaction out there on Twitter and social media," he said on his show. "It's so nice to see because when we ended things [over] ten years ago, there was no social media."
