The family of alleged killer and kidnapping suspect James Lee DiMaggio is requesting DNA samples be taken from Hannah Anderson, due to suspicions DiMaggio may be her biological father.

On Tuesday, multiple reports stated DiMaggio left his $112,000 life insurance policy to Hannah's paternal grandmother, Bernice Anderson.

"He expected the grandmother to take care of the two children with the money. He stated he did not want it to go to their parents because they were having marital problems and he didn't trust them with the money on their own," Andrew Spanswick, a spokesman for DiMaggio's family, told ABC 10 News.

Spanswick added the DiMaggio family is not attempting to contest the policy, but are requesting Hannah, 16, and her deceased brother, Ethan Anderson, 8, be given a DNA test.

"We are requesting DNA samples from Hannah and anything they can get from Ethan. There are rumors Jim was the children's real father. The parents didn't marry until 2002. We think it's strange he left them so much money with no explanation," Spanswick said.

According to Spanswick, Hannah's recent behavior and posts on social media are cause for concern.

"Some things that Hannah is saying on her Facebook doesn't add up so far; her latest posts are disturbing," Spanswick told ABC 10 News.

Days after Hannah's return on Aug. 10, teen reportedly took to social media to answer some questions about her kidnapping.  (Click here to view posts)

"I wish I could go back in time and risk my life to try and save theirs. I will never forgive myself for not trying harder to save them," Anderson posted, referring to her mother and brother.

DiMaggio was accused of torturing and killing Hannah's mother, Christina Anderson, and little brother Ethan.  DiMaggio abducted Hannah and took her to a rural area of Idaho, where she was rescued six days after her kidnapping.  FBI officials shot and killed DiMaggio during the rescue.

DiMaggio was reportedly a close family friend of the Andersons, as Hannah and Ethan knew him as "Uncle Jim."

A fundraiser was held for the Andersons, days after Hannah returned to her Lakeside community in San Diego, Calif.  It was the teen's first public appearance since her kidnapping.
