Emma Watson will join Tom Hanks in the film adaptation of Dave Eggers' "The Circle," reported Deadline. James Ponsoldt, director of "The Spectacular Now," will write the screenplay and direct the film based on the 2013 thriller.

"Emma Watson is one of my favorite actors, and her incredible talent, sensitivity and deep intelligence will bring an electric energy to 'The Circle,'" said Ponsoldt, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Watson will play a young woman who is hired for a big job at an Internet monopoly called the Circle, which links users' personal emails, social media, banking and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency.

It has not been confirmed who Hanks will play but, according to the Los Angeles Times, it will most likely be one of two elder figures who lead the company that Watson's character is employed at.

Hanks also signed on as a producer, along with Ponsoldt and Gary Goetzman.

Filming is set to begin this September in California.
