A Chinese man managed to avoid a huge circular saw flying into his truck in a recent highway accident.

The incident took place last week on the Chongqing-Guizhou Expressway in Central China when the man, only identified as Mr. Xiang, heard a crash after a pickup truck carrying equipment in the opposite lane lost control and mounted the central verge, causing several saw blades to fly out of the back, according to The Telegraph.

One of the blades then flew out of the bushes and into Xiang's JMC truck as he tried to keep control of the swerving vehicle, wedging itself 50 centimeters deep into the front of the truck and tripping through its engine.

Despite the damage to the vehicle, Xiang miraculously managed to come out of the accident with no injuries, ABC News reported.

"I heard a 'bang' and then I saw all the white smoke in front of me. I almost lost control of my car," Xiang told local reporters the day after the incident.

Police reported that Xiang could have been killed if he drove faster or if the blade had hit a slightly different angle.

Road injuries are a major problem in China, with a global study in The Lancet medical journal published in 2013 finding them to be the third-leading cause of death in the country, right in front of cancers.
