If you were traveling through Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas and Texas, you might have seen beautiful arrays of colors in the sky in the wee hours of the morning.

There is no need to worry if you missed the aurora borealis, however, because photographers were on scene to document and take pictures of the unexpected moment in history that was also seen in New Hampshire and Minnesota, according to The Washington Post.

Twitter user SBUX75DEVILDOG was amazed by the spectacle when he was hanging out on the Appalachian Trail on Tuesday.

"Just hanging out watching the Aurora Borealis on the Appalachian Trail @EpicCosmos," he wrote on his Twitter page.

Twitter user Ryan Knapp was equally impressed by what was before his eyes.

"View of #AuroraBorealis over Berlin, #NH from @MWObs at midnight; the sky is UNBELIEVABLE! #NHwx #northernlights," Knapp posted on his page.

The colors remained in the sky well past 4 a.m. on Tuesday, and Twitter user Dan McKemy was there to see it.

Best #aurora display I've ever seen from the Badlands! #sdwx @wx_chip @wxbrad @JimCantore @BadlandsNPS," McKemy wrote.
