There's been a change of plans involving the tribute episode for actor Cory Monteith and his character Finn on the hit show "Glee." Creator Ryan Murphy recently gave Deadline some more secrets involving how the death of the character would be handled in the new season.

At first it was reported that Finn would be killed off the show by a drug overdose but Murphy said that is no longer going to happen.

"At one point, we were going to have his character die after an accidental drug overdose - that was something we had considered," Murphy told Deadline. "But we have decided that we're not going to have him pass from that. Basically, what we're doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died."

"The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, 'This episode is about a celebration of that character's life.' That might be weird for some people, but it felt really exploitative to do it any other way," he continued. "The cast and crew have had solace in being together. They've been holed up doing those Beatles numbers. There's been tears on set. It's been hard for a lot of people."

Murphy said the most difficult part of the new season hasn't even come yet. The cast and crew will begin shooting the memorable episode this week. Murphy had told TV Line back in July that the third episode would directly deal with the passing of Finn; the first two episodes will be Beatles episodes.

After the third episode everyone is going to take a two or three week break to get themselves together and figure out how to move on with the rest of the season.

"I think it turned out to be a lovely tribute," he said. "It's a very heartfelt look at how young people grieve. We loved Cory and we loved Finn and it feels like a huge loss and a huge heartache not to have either of them around."
