A German man was surprised when he was taken to a porn site after scanning the QR code of a bottle of Heinz ketchup.

Daniel Korell wrote on the company's Facebook page regarding the incident, saying that the ketchup "is probably not for minors" and posted a photo of the site.

"We really regret the incident," a Heinz representative responded on Facebook.

Korell scanned the QR code on the back of the bottle to find information about a promotional campaign that offered personalized ketchup bottle labels, UPI reported.

However, the domain name "sagsmithheinz.de" expired after the competition closed in 2014, redirecting it to a porn website called FunDorado.

"The bottle may be a remnant, but it is certainly still present in many households," Korell told Heinz. "It is incomprehensible that you cannot secure the domain for at least one or two years. A .com domain really does not cost the world."

Heinz offered Korell a custom-designed ketchup bottle free of charge in order to rectify the situation, Bild reported.

"Clearly this was never our intention and we are taking steps to avoid this from re-occurring," added the spokesman for Heinz, which is partly owned by Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA).

Meanwhile, the pornography site sent Korell a message on Facebook offering him free access to the website for one year.
