U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found fried fish full of cocaine at Miami International Airport last weekend. Authorities seized more than 2 pounds of the recreational drug, which was being carried in the luggage of a 38-year-old female passenger arriving from Jamaica, reported The Sun Sentinel.

During an X-ray examination of the passenger's baggage, officials said they spotted certain abnormalities in some of the cooked fish. The officials mentioned that the bellies of some fish appeared to be stitched together and in comparison to the other fish, felt much thicker, according to the Miami Herald.

Customs officers found 2.3 pounds of cocaine hidden inside the fish, which they then confiscated. "CBP officers are an instrumental part of the detailed inspection process designed to detect illegal narcotics entering the United States," said Miami International Airport Port Director Christopher Maston.

"Drug smugglers are using increasingly innovative methods and this interception is an excellent example of how our highly trained officers continue to use their experience and knowledge to detect and interdict the flow of illegal narcotics," he added further, reported Miami New Times.
