Rockstar has unveiled a trailer for Grand Theft Auto Online, calling it a "dynamic and persistent online world for 16 players."

The game mode will come as a feature in the upcoming "Grand Theft Auto V" but will quickly become its own entity as Rockstar continues to develop and create content for users to return to even after the story mode of the game is long done.

The new trailer, released on Thursday, details some of the key features users can expect when they log in to GTA V Online. The game offers a huge range of structured and unstructured gaming options for you and your friends in the game's open world city of Los Santos, a look alike to Los Angeles. Users can do everything from golf, arm wrestle, pull of a bank heist or liquor store robbery to racing or just plain shooting at one another to see who comes out on top.

Once you've built a crew of your friends, you can complete new missions and jobs given to you by new characters that are only seen in the multiplayer universe. With the petty cash made from some of these ventures, you can customize your character, purchase cars, planes and other fun toys. If you're wondering where you'll put all these shiny new toys, Rockstar has you covered. Gamers can purchase an apartment that your crew can use as a meeting place or a garage to store all of your best vehicles.

One of the other exciting new featuers for GTA V Online is the content creator. Users can now go into a mode that lets them plot the course of a race, or place vehicles and guns on a specific location to create the perfect team deathmatch experience. Battle with your friends or against them to be either the first one across the finish line or the last one standing. Users have a wide variety of things they can do in the game's vast open world.

Grand Theft Auto Online is a dynamic and persistent online world for 16 players that begins by sharing gameplay features, geography and mechanics with Grand Theft Auto V, but will continue to expand and evolve after its launch with new content created by Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto community," the company explained. "Grand Theft Auto Online takes the fundamental Grand Theft Auto concepts of freedom, ambient activity and mission-based gameplay and makes them available to multiple players in an incredibly detailed and responsive online world."
