‘Game of Throne’ Season 7 Leaks Feared As Cyber Attackers Break Into HBO’s Network By Dipannita | Aug 01, 2017 09:35 AM EDT HBO has turned out to be the latest victim of a cyber-attack and reports suggest that the hackers have leaked unaired episodes of popular HBO shows like "Game of Thrones." On Monday, hackers targeted HBO and broke into the channel's network. It is speculated that the cuber-attack has led to the leak of unaired episodes of popular HBO series and it also includes the fan favorite, "Game of Thrones" Season 7. According to reports from Variety, the channel has confirmed the cyber-attack in a statement that said, "HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information. We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cyber security firms." The statement further stated that at HBO protection of data is of top priority and it is a responsibility that the channel takes on seriously. Moreover, Richard Plepler, the chairman and CEO of HBO, terming the hack as "disruptive, unsettling, and disturbing for all of us" has told his employees in a mail that the situation is being investigated, however, he is confident that like any other obstacle that they have faced, they will steer through this one successfully as well. It must be mentioned here that it is still not clear as to who is the real person or the group of hackers, who are behind this cyber incident. However, this is not the first time that HBO is facing such a situation. Notably, in 2015, HBO faced a similar situation, though it was not hackers intruding into the network. It so happened that after the channel sent some DVDs to the press for review, the first few episodes of the HBO series, "Game of Thrones" Season 5 was leaked even before the premiere. Again, in the same year, pictures of Jon Snow's death were found online before the finale was aired from the overseas distributors of HBO.
