Even if the team failed to get the NBA Championship title last season, James is convinced that he is still happy playing with the Cavs. Apart from this, Lebron James reportedly has no plans of waiving his no-trade clause at the moment or at any point during the next season. According to CBS Sports, once he will not accept his $35.6 million player option for season 2018-2019, he can become a free agent the next summer. After Griffin and the Cleveland Cavaliers parted ways, the team welcomed its new general manager Koby Altman. It was expected that he will have some hard decisions to make leading into the next season since the team struggled to keep up with other teams in the league in terms of the arms race this offseason. Watch video It can be recalled that in the previous reports, the Cleveland Cavaliers tried to get Jimmy Butler and Paul George but was unsuccessful. It was also claimed that Lebron James felt disappointed with this since he believed that it was Griffin who was familiar with the supposed negotiation. If he did not leave the team, there would have been a possibility that Butler was with them already. Meanwhile, it was reported that Kyrie Irving has since requested and demanded a trade and would like to be sent to any of the NBA teams he enumerated. According to him, the teams he considered were San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The reason, as what the reports claimed was that Kyrie Irving has grown tired already of being the assistant to Lebron James in the court. It was said that he felt the time had come to take his destiny into his own hands and wanted to be the centerpiece of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Even if it was reported that Lebron James is not really interested in waiving his no-trade clause which was a positive sign, still, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been chased by a lot of questions of doubts going forward for the upcoming season. There is no assurance that James will still stay beyond next season.
