WBO Finally Justifies Jeff Horn’s Triumph Over Manny Pacquiao Amid Rumors Of Unfair Decision
The World Boxing Organization or the WBO finally confirmed that Jeff Horn's win over Manny Pacquiao in the previous bout was legitimate. The said organization just performed a review into the scoring of the fight that took place in Brisbane the other week.
It can be recalled that Jeff Horn beat Manny Pacquiao through a unanimous decision making him the new welterweight world champion. But some Filipinos were not satisfied with the result of the bout telling and claiming that Pacquiao was robbed of his belt and title.
Because of this, Reuters reported that the Filipino government department called for a re-count in the midst of the widespread uproar over the decision of the fight. It was declared after the fight that Jeff Horn won the seven rounds of the fight compared to Manny Pacquiao's five rounds advantage.
With the result of the re-count conducted by the WBO, Jeff Horn said that the confirmation of his victory came at a good time. According to him, beating Manny Pacquiao is the biggest win of his career while he flew out to the U.S. last Tuesday for the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.
The Australian boxer also added that the confirmation form the WBO gave him evidence which he can no use to claim that he really won the fight despite the widespread uproar. Now, instead of telling that he thinks he won the fight, he can now say that he was the real winner of the bout.
In the said battle and fight in Brisbane, Jeff Horn was declared the winner with the scores 117-11, 115-113, 115-113 by three international judges. The three judges included Chris Flores, Waleksa Roldan, and Ramon Cerdan and it was Roldan who received most of the criticisms because of her scoring.
This confirmation for the Wold Boxing Organization was released after Philippine's Games and Amusement Board called for a review of the bout. Later, Manny Pacquiao also supported this call saying that he did not want to see the boxing industry dying just because of unfair officiating and decision.
However, the WBO made it clear before that it does not have the power to get the title back from Jeff Horn if the result of the re-count is in the favor of Manny Pacquiao. But the conduct of the review was necessary in order to show transparency and to eliminate the controversy.
