By Dipannita | Jun 27, 2017 08:48 PM EDT Fans of horror film franchise "The Conjuring" would be delighted to know that work has begun on "The Conjuring 3." Warner Bros has hired screenwriter David Leslie Johnson for the third installment but it is still not clear if director James Wan would be making a comeback as a director. All those who have been waiting to hear updates about "The Conjuring 3" would be delighted to know that work has begun on the project. According to Collider, Warner Bros studio has hired screenwriter David Leslie Johnson for the third installment but it is said that director James Wan is not returning as director for the project. Also, it is still not clear as to who will replace him or the names that are being considered as replacements. Nevertheless, "The Conjuring 3" offers to be an opportunity for Warner Bros to give a new flavor to the successful franchise. It could rope in a director who has a unique style of direction and make efforts to adapt the franchise to it as well. It should not go looking for someone who can recreate the distinct creepiness Wan created for the horror saga and producer Peter Safran also feels so, reported Gizmodo. He recently said that they will not be doing a haunted house movie with a family in danger. He made it clear that the next project has got to be something different and it looks like the absence of James Wan as director of "The Conjuring 3" will help that materialize. Also, Safran confirmed that Ed and Lorraine Warren will be returning as investigators in the next film. It is worth mentioning here that James Wan has directed the first two films of "The Conjuring" franchise and since he is busy directing "Aquaman" this time, his chances of taking up "The Conjuring 3" are very slim. So, a new director is very much on board and it is only a matter of time before his name is announced.
