The mother of NFL kicker Harrison Butker, who gave a much-criticized commencement address that suggested working women were unfulfilled, is an accomplished medical physicist.

Elizabeth Keller Butker is a published author who works at Emory University's Department of Radiation Oncology.

Her father worked at the oncology department for decades.

Inspired by her father's career, Butker joined the school's Winship Cancer Institute in 1988. She specializes in brachytherapy and Gamma Knife medical physics care, according to the school.

The school featured her in an article ahead of this year's Super Bowl.

"What an amazing ride these past three years have been for us watching Harrison play for the Chiefs," Elizabeth Butker said. "We are so proud not only of Harrison's success as a kicker in the NFL but also of the man he has become. Let's GO CHIEFS!"

The Kansas City Chief's kicker gave the commencement address to 485 graduates at Benedictine College on Saturday.

Butker told the female graduates that their "most important title" should be that of "homemaker."

"I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you," Butker said. "Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."

Women responded to the address with outrage on social media.
